You can eliminate up to 100% of your mis-cues by conditioning your tip to hold chalk better. A mis-cue is when the cue stick tip sharply slides off the cue ball. You will you usually hear a crack sound and your cue ball will move in a direction you did not plan. What causes mis-cues? As your cue makes contact with the cue ball the fibers of the leather become compacted. A compacted leather tip will not hold chalk properly. A tip picking tool will loosen up the fibers of the leather and allow chalk to adhere to the tip. A tip that holds chalk better will give you better ball control and eliminate mis-cues. We recommend the Tip Pik for picking up leather fibers. A Tip Pik is critical to eliminate mis-cues.

It is very important to shape your tip to the curvature of a nickel. After shooting balls your tip will start to flatten. It is critical that you shape the tip. A properly shaped tip will last longer and give you better ball and cue stick control. A tip shaper is an absolute must to achieve the nickel radius.

We recommend the Willards Tip Shaper. It is a very efficient tip tool and as a bonus includes a shape confirmer built into it.

A clean, smooth shaft on your cue is pure enjoyment. During normal use your shaft picks up contaminants like perspiration, chalk and powder. The combination of these contaminants will put a gritty texture on your shaft making it very un-pleasant to use. Use Dr Z's Shaft Prescription cloths for the smoothing and conditioning process. This product will also increase the life of the shaft.

The properly used burnisher reinforces the sides of the leather tip. This is very important to help keep that nickel radius on your cue tip. A tip not burnished will flatten out quickly. As a result your cue will not perform to its optimum and you are subject to the cost of an early tip replacement. We recommend the Porper Tip Burnisher.
