More About Coto De Caza, California
Coto de caza is a scenic community spread over 758 acres of land in southern Orange County, California. As of 2010 census, there were 548 residential homes and 102 condominiums or townhouses in Coto. The population as of 2010 was just under 2,000 residents with a median age of 60 years old and an average household income just over $1 million dollars per year. The median value of homes was $2.6 million. Coto is surrounded by Laguna Beach and Dana Point, California to the north, Fountain Valley to the east, and Westminster to the south. Coto de caza has a clubhouse that was built in 1926 and has been expanded several times. It includes kitchen facilities and barbecues for public use. The public areas include a large outdoor swimming pool with bar service nearby as well as tennis courts and an archery range used by the Coto Residents Association (CRA).
Coto de caza's main claim to fame is its golf courses designed by Stanley Thompson Wilson who designed it in 1926 along with the town itself. It has two 18-hole golf courses, a 9-hole par 3 course, and a putting course. The signature hole is the 14th hole on "the Farms" golf course, a par 3 that plays in excess of 200 yards to a two level green sitting atop the hillside with an outstanding view of the valley below. The clubhouse has been described as an old English country home with its cross gables and turret. It was built for $50,000 in 1926 at 8071 Narbonne Road which was then changed to Mulino Way in 1928.

Coto de caza is serviced by the Capistrano Unified School District and has one elementary school (California Elementary) in Laguna Niguel, California.
